Google Earth Outreach continued to work with the Amazon Indian tribe that enlisted their aid in 2007 to help reverse deforestation of their native areas.
Now their story is told in this 8 minute film Trading Bows and Arrows for Laptops which screened at the festival - but you can watch the entire piece on YouTube right here:
One million new saplings have already been planted - proof positive that we can indeed turn deforestation around if we direct our resources in that direction. This is also a compelling illustration of the power of online mapping and visualizing data to aid activists efforts.
